Kaleidoscope University is my Capstone Project that I’ve done at the end of my Associates Degree in Graphic Design.
My concept is a university that is neurodivergent-focused, and is dedicated to offer neurodivergent students a safe educational space where they can thrive academically and creatively using non-traditional educational strategies that are suitable for them and their needs, like implementing visual learning, providing storage options and help with time management and organisation, providing quiet spaces and means to reduce sensory overwhelm, and offering help, empathy and support to all students.
I was driven to make this project because neurodivergent students have always struggled in an educational system that was not made for them or their needs, and a lot of them end up dropping out of university due to the unsupportive conditions that they have to study in like overwhelming study spaces, social anxiety, and lack of empathy from some peers or teachers, and this is unfair because neurodivergent individuals deserve to have an equal chance to pursue their dreams just like anyone else.
I believe that in a world that is beautifully diverse we should embrace our differences and accommodate for everyone, and this is why I came up with Kaleidoscope University, a university that encourages change and embraces differences.
Style Guide
This is the style guide for the university’s brand. I chose to implement more than one colour because the university doesn’t have a traditional style and colours are a big part of the neurodiverse community in general, but I also didn’t want the colours to be visually overwhelming so I chose soft tones. I also implemented mandala into the brand’s style, because for me mandala has a lot of shapes and that symbolises diversity and change.
